The strike takes place on Mercury. It was introduced in the Curse of Osiris expansion, but didn't appear as the Nightfall until week 26, when patch 1.1.3 rolled out.

There's an excellent write-up from Esoterickk on Reddit.

Recommended Loadout

Equip standard loadout. Bring Wardcliff Coil for non-Prestige runs so you can use the "Wardcliff Coil ammo gift" to refill your rocket launcher between boss phases.

For Prestige runs, select a Singe element that matches your class, e.g. Arc Singe for Striker or Arcstrider. Configure your weapons to match. Because Singe boosts the damage done by enemies, using Void may be beneficial.

Starting Area

  • Head toward the object marker. Take out the Scorpius turrets from long range.
  • You can run along the top of the curved walls if you want to avoid some of the early Cabal.
  • There are Cabal and Vex fighting in front of the Infinite Forest gate. You need to kill the orange-bar Honored Centurion and most of the hostiles to open the gate. Prioritize shooting Cabal over Vex, as there are more Cabal, and the Vex can provide a distraction.
  • Once through the tunnel, kill or run past enemies as desired.
  • The last section before the gate is full of Cabal Legionaries and Psions. You need to kill them to open the gate. Don't rush in too fast or you can get surrounded.

Fields of Glass

  • Kill everything, starting with the Psions. You can snipe most hostiles from the ledge. Get on your sparrow.
  • There are three paths on the sparrow run: left, right, center. The center path has a few hostiles in it. The right path seems to be slightly faster, but requires dodging lasers. (If you take that path during the story mission, Sagira asks if you're trying to impress her.)
  • For the narrow section of the right-hand path, weaving gently side-to-side seems to be easier than trying to thread the needle, at least on PC with keyboard/mouse.

Atlas Grove

  • Get off your sparrow. Kill everything.

Boss Fight: Valus Thuun

  • Weapons used:
    • Slug Rifle (right arm). Has a secondary arc-blast mode.
    • Ground slam.
    • Jetpack charge.
  • Convention: you enter from the south.

Phases:

  • There's a Psion standing in the entrance, four Legionaries, and one Harpy down below (though the Cabal may kill the Harpy before you arrive). Kill them to call the boss.
  • At 80% health, Thuun becomes invulnerable and flies away. Lasers activate. Four Legionaries, half a dozen Harpies, and a shielded Minotaur drop in. You must kill the Minotaur to advance.
  • In the second room, Thuun will be joined by two Psions and four Legionaries, all starting in the raised area to the north. A second wave with one Psion and three Legionaries arrives a little while later. A third wave with more Legionaries appears after that.
  • At 55% health, Thuun becomes invulnerable and flies away. Lasers activate. Half a dozen Harpies and a shielded Minotaur drop in. You must kill the Minotaur to advance. Until you do, Harpies will continue to dribble in at a steady pace for the next 60 seconds or so.
  • In the third room, Thuun will initially be joined by four Legionaries.
  • At 40% health, lasers activate. Pairs of Legionaries will jump into the north end of the room.

Fight strategy:

  • You need to kite the boss. He will chase you constantly, so in the first two rooms you have to run in a big circle and engage from a distance. He's especially dangerous in the 3rd room, because his ground slam and jetpack charge will easily knock you into space.
  • Always prioritize killing adds over damaging the boss.
  • When the boss first appears, he's invulnerable for an extended period. Don't activate your super or expend power ammo until you're sure he's ready.
  • Use your super immediately in the first room. It will likely be restored by the 3rd room (and if it's not, you can go get a snack after clearing the 2nd room).
  • In the second area, the Psions are the biggest threat. Kill them as quickly as possible. Some will appear immediately, a second set will appear shortly after.
  • The first two areas finish with an orange-bar Minotaur that is guaranteed to drop power ammo. For non-Prestige runs, you can swap this through the Wardcliff Coil to restore your power ammo.
  • In the third area, the best strategy seems to be to hide in the low areas on the sides, standing on the south side of the block. Thuun will follow you down, but he always moves to the north end before doing so. So you can jump down in the southwest, shoot/grenade him when he jumps down, then jump out and move to the southeast, and repeat. This requires some careful jumping after the lasers activate. As always, prioritize adds when they appear.
